We can't tell you how many times we have heard our photographers say, "I just want a clean, simple, modern design". This is why we designed the Neue Thyme website/blog template set with a modern flare. Instead of including a background image, we decided to keep it clean with an integrated vignette (shadow) that can be turned on or off. This vignette creates a soft spotlight affect to any color you add to the background. Our simple to use backend tool will also allow you to upload your logo, change colors, manage your pages, and upload a background of your own. As you might have expected, our flash website template is search engine optimized and works on mobile devices like the iPad, iPhone, Blackberry, Android, and many more.. The matching WordPress blog will ensure that you have the complete branded experience. For the next few days, we will be offering these templates at 50% off if you use the discount code below.

I love all the new website and blog templates, you guys rock and I'm so glad I've been with ITDR for the last 4 yrs.
(04.14.10 @ 10:56 AM)Really digging this design! It was just what I was looking for to share images.
(04.16.10 @ 08:42 AM)Josette, thank you! We are glad to have you as a client! And Patrick, your Hard Liquorice site looks great! For all of you who haven't seen it yet go check it out: http://www.patrickpike.com/portfolio/
(04.16.10 @ 01:05 PM)I love this! It's exactly what i'm looking for. One question though, I see all the images are in landscape orientation. Will the grid thumbnails display portrait oriented images correctly? Or is it possible to have a different thumbnail preview for the image?
(04.27.10 @ 04:31 AM)Lindsey, the header will attempt to grab the center of a portrait oriented image that you upload, however, for the best viewing experience we recommend cropping your images to 1600x900 for the website and 1000x312 for the blog header.

Intothedarkroom is excited to announce the second template set in the designer collection, Wicked Cicily. The Wicked Cicely website and blog templates are for the bold brand and the hot blooded. We wanted to bring an edgy feel to this new template set, so we incorporated leather texture and dark tones as the default setting. However, you can add your logo and tint the background leather texture with a color to make it more personal. As always, our websites are search engine optimized and our template blogs are built on WordPress. Buy just one or buy both to have the complete package. And with our new quick install feature, you can purchase and install any of these products right now! For the next 3 days, we will be offering these templates at 50% off if you use the discount code below.

Does this come with a splash page too like the demo? If I want a different background is that possible? Can I change the frame color, stitching color? Also, the next modern template that will launch soon- will that have a 50% code as well? Id love to connect with someone about my questions, thanks!
(04.07.10 @ 10:59 AM)Jess, the website comes with a splash page like the demo - the blog does not. No, the leather background is not changeable and you cannot change the stitching color. You can, however, put a tint over the leather background to change the color. And we have not decided yet if we will be giving a discount with the next template.
(04.07.10 @ 02:16 PM)Thanks so much for answering my question! I really love this template, however I think my branding and overall look will go more with the modern template you have coming out next. I am super excited to see that...I cant wait! :) You guys are awesome!

We recently read a tweet from Daniel Chin explaining that he gave up a competitor to use Intothedarkroom's Pimp my Vanilla photography website and blog templates. We thought that Daniel's work and design setup for the new site and blog were fantastic so we gave him a call and decided to interview him. We hope you enjoy the interview below.

How long have you been a professional photographer?
4 years.
How would you describe your photography? What are you passionate about?
I would describe my photography as explorational photo documentary. My desire is to capture real life things as it happens to retell the stories. I like to experiment with innovative pictures and presentation, while trying embrace an entire feeling as well as document the event. I consider my portrait work documentary as well. I really want people to be able to look at a picture and really see themselves in it instead of just an image that looks like them.
What made you get an Intothedarkroom product?
I've been following the company for several years and their clean design aesthetic has always appealed to me. I love the idea of white museum walls being transformed by the pictures hanging on them, and this template was perfect for that kind of transformation. The pricepoint was also extremely attractive. Being able to get a matching WordPress template out of the box was definitely a benefit as well.
What do you like about the product?
I'm a photographer with background in mechanical engineering as well as industrial design. How a product is designed to flow with user experience is of utmost importance to me. The things I like about Intothedarkroom are their thoughts in designing a super fast and responsive template, the fact that I can host the template on my own server, and the flexibility of the backend to make the template do what I wanted it to do. Their customer service has been top-notch from day zero.
How are you going to use the website and blog to enhance your business?
The website has already been a huge asset in allowing me to showcase my images in beautiful and clean environment. As photographers now, websites are THE primary way for people to see our work, so it's really important that it all works in my favor: presentation, branding, and polish.
Tweet us your Vanilla website, blog, or Flaunt slide show, or put a link to it in the comments. We would love to see what you have done with the design. Who knows...you might even be featured on our blog.
I think Daniel chose the right theme for his style of photography. He said it right on the money...it is "designed to flow with the user." This is very important and a high priority for any new website or blog. Like they say "keep it simple stupid" and this best describes the work of ITDR and what they did with this theme.
This is one theme I would definitely consider for my own website or blog to showcase my photography work. Simple, clean and easy to navigate...end of STORY!
(03.24.10 @ 07:23 PM)Darrell, glad to hear! You should send us a link to a slideshow. We would love to see how you designed it.
(03.30.10 @ 02:36 PM)
