Perfictly Perilla Blog FAQ

  • What is a horizontal blog template?

The horizontal photography blog was conceptualized by Intothedarkroom and Jay Reilly. The idea was to take advantage of the horizontal format of browser/monitors. To do this, we reformatted the vertical to scroll left and right instead of up and down. This long image train maximized the image area and made for a unique browsing experience.

  • What is the advantage to the horizontal blog template?

In addition to maximizing the image area in the browser, it is very unique. There are not a lot of blogs out there that scroll left and right. Since we launched the first one years ago, many have tried to built something similar but discovered how difficult it is to do.

  • What are my design options?

We kept this design clean for both visual appeal and ease of branding. You can add your colors and your logo via our design plug in for WordPress. In addition, you can change the font between a serif sanserif.

  • Can I have images in the front of the blog?

You can have images that rotate in the front of the blog. However, this is the same space that will contain your logo. So you may have to get creative with how you set this up.

  • Can I change the navigation?

You can change most of the navigation items. The only ones that you cannot remove are Home, Categories, RSS, and Blogroll (which you can change to Links and use it to link to anywhere you want).

  • Can I add video?

You can embed videos hosted on YouTube, Vimeo, etc in any post or page.

  • Can I Embed Flaunt?

Flaunt, our awesome photography slideshow program, can be embedded in any page or post on the blog.

  • Can I buy a website template to match?

Although we did not design a website template specifically for this blog, we have many photography websites that would compliment this blog very well.

  • Is there a content management system (CMS) for this blog?

Yes, we are proud to say that our template blogs are powered by the most popular and most user-friendly blogging platform on the internet, WordPress. If you are already using WordPress, our installer will just install our theme on top of your current installation. This will not delete anything. If you aren’t using WordPress currently, our installer will upload it on your server with our theme

  • What WordPress plugins can I use with the blog?

There are thousands of WordPress plugins at your disposal, however, we don’t support these third party plugins or help you install them. Some will work out of the box and some won’t. You will just have to play around with the plugins you want.

  • Is this blog Search Engine Optimized (SEO)?

Blogs in general are very SEO-friendly, but we go the extra mile to make sure we have implemented all the proper SEO techniques into our blogs. For further SEO tips read our SEO document.

  • How does the blog look on the iPhone, iPad, and other mobile devices?

Our blogs are functional on virtually any mobile device that can browse the internet. Because Apple doesn’t accept flash on their devices, the header has been modified to hold a single image rather than contain a rotating flash header, but besides that the blog should look almost identical on the iPhone and iPad.

  • Will my host work with the blog?

Our cart system/installer will check your host to make sure it is compatible for you before you pay anything. If you don’t have a host, we recommend HostGator.

  • Do you have support?

Yes. We have a resource center to help you use the product. You will find both quick start guides and detailed instructions. In addition, we have a support ticket system to help you with any other issues that you may have.

  • What is your refund policy?

    There are no refunds.
