Login

  • Here you can access the Movable Type admin panel in order to start the journey of populating your blog:
  • http://YourWebsiteAddress.com/darkroom/mt
  • (HINT: you will need the login and password that we sent you via email)

Create a Blog Entry

Step By Step

  • Roll over the CREATE button
  • Click the ENTRY button

  • Add a TITLE
  • Add an IMAGE by clicking on the INSERT IMAGE icon (in the tool bar 5 images from the right)
  • Click UPLOAD NEW IMAGE
  • Click BROWSE
  • Find the image on your computer and CLICK on it
  • Click UPLOAD (bottom right)
  • Click FINISH
  • Type your TEXT
  • Click Preview or Save

Previewing

  • To preview your entry, click the "Preview" button. Movable Type 4 has a new feature that allows you to preview your entry in the style of your blog.

Saveing

  • Clicking the "Save" button will save your entry to your database, and optionally publish it based on the publishing status you've set (see below).

  • Please note: This video is a generic guide and not all features can be applied to your custom blog. However, this will give you a good visusal understanding of the interface.

Sub Navigation

Link to an internal page

  • Log into MT admin panel
  • Hover over the “Create” button and select “Page” from the list. (Create > Page).
  • On the right side, change “Unpublished” to “Published”
  • Add your title (this is the title that will be displayed in the sub-navigation)
  • Add your content
  • In the “Tags” field, type in lower case (no caps) the name of the main navigation button you want the page to appear under (example “about” or “art galleries”). Save.
  • Re-publish your site.
  • Done!
  • To delete a page, go to (Manage -> Pages) and find the page you wish to delete, check the box next to it and press “Delete”.

Link to an external location

  • Log into your MT admin panel
  • Hover over the “Create” button and select “link” from the list. (Create > Link).
  • Enter the URL you want to link to, press “Save”
  • Title your link (this is the title that will be displayed in the sub-navigation)
  • In the “Tags” field, type in lower case (no caps), the name of the main navigation button you want the link to appear under (example “about” or “art galleries”). Save.
  • Re-publish your site.
  • Done!
  • To delete a link, go to (Manage -> Assets) and find the link you wish to delete, check the box next to it and press “Delete”.

Add video

  • You can embed Vimeo code from your account into your blog.
  • Once you have your video uploaded to vimeo, copy the embed code
  • Go to your mt and create an entry
  • Make sure that your format is dropped down to none
  • Paste code in
  • Save and publish

How do I add/use Blogshow?

Change Blogshow Style

  1. In Movable Type, Go to Tools > Plugins
  2. Click BlogShow > Settings
  3. Change your settings
  4. Save

Insert Blogshow

  1. When creating/editing a page click the Blogshow icon above the text editor
  2. Create a Set on the left
  3. Upload your images to that set on the right
  4. Click Embed

Blogshow Image size

  1. BlogShow: 870x580

If you want to just use Blogshow to upload and embed images

  1. Click new and create your set
  2. Upload images to your set
  3. Then select your set and click on options
  4. The first option will be Slideshow enabled make sure the "embed images only" box is check
  5. The second option is "Use Server Side Resampling" make sure to click that off.
  6. Click close

Edit pages

Edit a page

  • Rollover MANAGE
  • Click PAGES
  • Click on the page you want to edit
  • Edit the TEXT
  • Click SAVE
  • YOU MUST PUBLISH TO SEE THESE CHANGES: Publish (the circle of arrows in the navigation bar to the right of the TOOLS button)


Welcome Image and Text

Add Welcome Image

  • In Movable Type, Go to Manage > Pages
  • Click “Welcome Picture”
  • Insert your picture (no larger than 200x150)
  • Save

Add Welcome Text

  • In Movable Type, Go to Manage > Pages
  • Click “Welcome”
  • Insert your text
  • Save
